Area Overview

The goal of this transformative research area, “Green Catalysis Science”, is to change synthetic organic chemistry to a form suitable for a sustainable society. To this end, we challenge the control of radical reactions by catalysts capable of harnessing light and electric energy. The collaborative research based on the integration of inorganic coordination chemistry, solid surface chemistry, and organic chemistry will facilitate the rational design of catalysts that can precisely control the generation of radicals and their bond formations to achieve otherwise difficult molecular transformations; this makes it feasible to synthesize high-value-added organic molecules from any carbon resources in the shortest possible steps.
